SCOTTLAND have appointed former Warriors captain Peter Ndlovu as interim head coach following the sacking of Norman Mapeza and his technical team.
Ndlovu will be assisted by Danger Fourpence, who has been promoted from the Scottland Academy, while veteran forward Knowledge Musona takes up the role of player-assistant coach. Goalkeeper Talbert Shumba will serve as goalkeepers’ coach.
The changes come three days after the reigning Premier Soccer League champions crashed out of the CAF Champions League following a 3-0 defeat to Angola’s Petro de Luanda at Estádio 11 de Novembro in Luanda on Friday.
Scottland surrendered a two-goal first-leg advantage to lose 3-2 on aggregate, with goals from Ruben Aderito, Jorge Pereira and Pedro Aparício completing Petro’s comeback.
Mapeza and his backroom staff were subsequently dismissed as the Mabvuku-based side reshuffled its technical department ahead of the remaining domestic fixtures.
Ndlovu’s immediate task will be to keep Scottland competitive in the league title race and the Munhumutapa Challenge Cup.
