Scottland players earn US$1000 each for 7-0 win

Sports Reporter
SCOTTLAND players were on Monday given US$1500 each for their last three victories in the tense Northern Region Soccer League run-in.
Of the windfall, US$1000 is for the 7-0 demolition of relegation-threatened Norton Community at Rufaro last week.

There was US250 each for the other two matches where there was no incentive at stake.

On that day, Scottland president Pedzai “Scott” Sakupwanya addressed players and pledged a windfall for goals as the race with NRSL leaders MWOS might end up being settled by goal difference.

While Scott was pledging a huge bonus for goals scored, Norton Community later issued a statement saying they had suspended five members of the team on allegations of match fixing.

They indicated they were probing the allegations.

Addressing players at training on Monday, Scott said he will commit more funds as incentives for more goals as the race for a sole Premier Soccer League ticket nears conclusion.
There are only four matches remaining now with MWOS and Scottland the remaining title contenders.

However, MWOS have enjoyed a healthier goal difference and hence Scott’s decision to reward the team for big wins.
