AFTER winning the Independence trophy on Saturday by beating Highlanders 1-0, Scottland turn their attention to the Dynamos challenge at Rufaro on Wednesday.
On Saturday, Knowledge Musona struck late to hand Scottland the 2026 Independence Cup title after capitalising on a defensive mix-up in a match played in Maphisa.
The champions were still able to come up with a win despite difficult playing conditions caused by a heavy downpour earlier in the day, which left the pitch muddy.
Coach Norman Mapeza said the most important thing was that they showcased football to the fans in Maphisa.
“The pitch was not good, but at the end of the day the people came out in their numbers to celebrate this day and we are happy to have got this result,” he said.
On Wednesday Scottland turn their attention to another big challenge against another traditional giant.
They will be aware DeMbare, who are currently unbeaten in the league campaign, have a score to settle.
The last time the two teams met in the Castle Challenge Cup to open the new season, Scottland massacred the PSL giants 5-0.
But a lot has changed since then.
Dynamos have had a great start to the season which sees them among the front runners, with coach Genesis Mangombe finally finding his footing.
The champions are also on course but they have not had it easy with teams putting up spirited performances to prove a point against Mapeza’s ambitious side.
