SCOTTS’ GREAT CHANCE TO MOVE LEVEL AT THE TOP

SIX days ago, they created the biggest football party at Sakubva in years in what was a carnival atmosphere which had the beautiful sights and roading sounds which the domestic Premiership has been lacking of late.

Now, Scottland are back at Rufaro today for another football party when they host Chicken Inn in a Castle Lager Premiership match.

They also have a chance to move level on points with leaders MWOS.

They might have an army of those who don’t like them, especially after they used their financial muscle to lure some of the top players on the domestic scene, but what isn’t deniable is that they have brought life into the domestic Premiership.

Their home parties have attracted scores of celebrities and that was the case when many of them followed them to Mutare last weekend.

Scottland will be hoping to compound the Gamecocks’s misery, which has seen them recording two wins in 12 attempts.

The hosts have managed 24 points and they are just three points behind leaders MWOS.

The Gamecocks have 12 points in the period under review and their slow start has seen their assistant coach, Tostao Kwashi, being reassigned to their developmental side in their bid to freshen up their technical bench.

Interestingly, their two wins have been recorded on the road.

They floored Dynamos 1-0 at Rufaro for their first win of the season.

The other win came two weeks ago at the expense of Kwekwe United when they registered a 4-2 win.

Chicken Inn coach, Joey Antipas, revealed that he was planning to rope in a few players who can help their cause during the mid-season break.

“We’re just not taking advantage of playing at home. When the window opens, we’ll try to bring in a couple of new faces. Particularly in the striking department, we’re not doing well.

“At times, we rush our passes and hurry everything. We need composure. Football being what it is, we are struggling where we should be strong at home,” said Antipas.

Scottland hit the woodwork twice against Manica Diamonds, including a free-kick struck from range by Godknows Murwira.

Tonderai Ndiraya knows his men are always under pressure to win matches, especially with MWOS flying at the top.

  1. Scottland is not a true football team. It is part an old age home and part a group of individuals. Rules should be changed to stop those with money from destroying other teams. In that way football development from lower levels will be guaranteed. Our football is being destroyed by such teams as Scottland and Simba Bhora.
