SCOTTS’ MOTHER OF ALL PARTIES

THE stage is being set and Scottland are planning to have the Mother Of All Parties in Gweru next Saturday.

The Mabvuku side, who were crowned PSL champions in only their first season in the top-flight league, will receive their trophy at Ascot in their final game of the season.

They are set to play TelOne but the game is of academic interest after Tonderai Ndiraya’s men secured the title with two games to spare in the race. Ironically, it was at Ascot where they won the title after a 5-1 thrashing of relegated Kwekwe United.

Now, they return to complete their season, getting their trophy and staging a mega football party which, according to the organisers, has never been seen in Gweru before.

The champions, who have already secured some buses which will be used to ferry their fans to their matches next year, are organising their supporters’ chapters, from around the country, to come to Ascot and celebrate the club’s finest hour.

The Harare Chapter, Midland Chapter, Byo Chapter, Hwange Chapter, Victoria Falls Chapter and Manicaland Chapter are all organising themselves to travel to Gweru.

Scottland are the first side to win the league, in their debut season, in the era of the domestic Premiership, whose first championship was in 1993. They are also only the second side, in the 63-year history of the local top-flight league, to win the championship in their debut season.

A star-studded Black Rhinos Class of ’84 are the only other side which managed such a feat.
