YOUNG people from the Seventh-day Adventist Church under the West Zimbabwe Conference made a remarkable impact during the congregation’s Global Youth Day (GYD) by leading a series of community-focused initiatives aimed at saving lives and uplifting vulnerable groups.

The highlight of the outreach was the donation of 111 pints of blood, a significant contribution toward addressing the country’s ongoing blood supply needs.
“We require at least 88 pints of blood every day to adequately service our hospitals,” said Anele Moyo from the National Blood Services Zimbabwe.

“What these young people have done is commendable and truly life-saving. We applaud them for stepping forward and making a difference.”
Moyo also encouraged more young people and members of the public to take part in blood donation initiatives to help sustain the country’s healthcare system.
Beyond blood donation, the SDA Church youths extended their impact through several other charitable activities. They donated 120 bed sheets to Mpilo Central Hospital’s A1 Ward, improving comfort and care conditions for patients.

At St Francis Home, the youths provided essential toiletries, bringing dignity and relief to residents.
The outreach also included clean-up campaigns in various communities, promoting environmental stewardship and public health, in line with the church’s commitment to holistic community development.
In a further demonstration of outreach, the youths visited Anju Farm Prison, where they donated a large roll of fabric for the production of prison uniform and toiletries. They also engaged inmates through a sports activity that fostered interaction, encouragement, and a sense of community.

A youth leader from the West Zimbabwe Conference described the initiative as a practical expression of faith in action.
“We believe in showing love through service, meeting people at their point of need and bringing hope in tangible ways”, said Pastor Kiviem Dube, Youth Ministries Director.

The Global Youth Day is an annual initiative of the SDA Church that encourages young people worldwide to step beyond the walls of the church and actively serve their communities.
Through these initiatives, the West Zimbabwe Conference youths not only meet immediate needs but also reinforce the importance of service, solidarity, and hope in building stronger communities.
