After a three-year hiatus, Ibrah modelling agency (IMA) has announced the return of the Miss Mpopoma pageant. The inaugural edition of the pageant was held in 2019 before the scheduled second edition was shelved due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Pageant organisers are calling on aspiring youthful models who want to take their careers to the next level to register for the Miss Mpopoma 2022 pageant online.

The pageant was initiated in order to give aspiring models in the Mpopoma suburb a platform to showcase their talent.

Said IMA founder Ibraheem “Ibrah” Kuvawoga: “We had online auditions during the weekend with the final auditions set to be held on September 9 and 10 at Inyathi Youth Centre in Mpopoma.”

Ibrah said the purpose of the modelling contest is to identify talent and nurture it in preparation for professional modelling. Also, the models are expected to be the voices of the community.

“In the process of being groomed and nurtured, the ladies are expected to carry out projects that tackle issues that affect the girl-child in the community of Mpopoma. These include teenage pregnancies, early marriages, abortion, rape, drug abuse, HIV and AIDS and peer pressure.

“The aim of these projects is to try and find solutions and also try to rope in organisations that can help young girls who are victims of such circumstances,” said Ibrah. @mthabisi_mthire
