The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade has commended the Second Republic for a significant advance in modernizing Zimbabwe’s diplomatic infrastructure, showcased by the construction of the New Zimbabwe Chancery in Abuja, Nigeria, which is strategically located near the ECOWAS headquarters.
The Ministry reported that this development is part of the Second Republic’s initiative to enhance Zimbabwe’s diplomatic, physical, and digital infrastructure at its missions abroad, featuring state-of-the-art facilities designed to improve diplomatic and consular services, promote economic diplomacy, and strengthen the national image.

“The Second Republic, under the leadership of His Excellency President Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, has prioritised the modernisation of Zimbabwe’s diplomatic footprint by building state-of-the-art infrastructure to strengthen economic diplomacy and enhance the country’s international presence,” the Ministry said in an update.
It said a major milestone under the programme is the completion of the New Zimbabwe Chancery in Abuja, which is strategically situated close to the ECOWAS headquarters, reinforcing Zimbabwe’s engagement with the regional bloc and the wider West African region.

“The modern diplomatic complex comprises the Chancery, three residential housing blocks capable of accommodating two families each, and the Ambassador’s Official Residence located nearby. Together, these facilities provide a conducive environment for effective diplomacy, consular services, trade and investment promotion and staff welfare,” it added.
The Ministry said the project reflects the Second Republic’s foreign policy thrust anchored on a professionalised diplomatic service and the promotion of economic diplomacy under the “Zimbabwe is Open for Business” agenda.

“The development reflects the Second Republic’s commitment to building a modern and professional foreign service, advancing the ‘Zimbabwe is Open for Business’ policy, and strengthening Zimbabwe’s engagement with Nigeria, ECOWAS, and the wider West African region,” it said.
It added that the modernisation drive across Zimbabwe’s missions abroad is aimed at improving efficiency, strengthening service delivery and enhancing the country’s international standing.
“The development forms part of the Second Republic’s commitment to modernising Zimbabwe’s diplomatic, physical, and digital infrastructure across its Missions abroad through the construction of state-of-the-art facilities that enhance the delivery of diplomatic and consular services, promote economic diplomacy, and project a positive national image,” the Ministry said.
