President Mnangagwa’s astute leadership should be commended, for it has brought about rapid development in all sectors across Zimbabwe.
The remarks were made by the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland East, Advocate Itayi Ndudzo, during his tour on Wednesday of new female hostels at Kushinga Phikelela Polytechnic College, built by the Government.
The three-storey building is now awaiting commissioning and its completion has brought relief to female students who have been facing serious accommodation challenges.
Construction of this block reportedly started in 2003 and has been stalled due to financial constraints.
With the coming in of the Second Republic, funds were availed which then accelerated its completion.
Recently, Advocate Ndudzo visited the college premises where the hostels are located.
“I am impressed by the progress that we are making as a nation under the astute leadership of President Mnangagwa,” he said.
“You will be pleased to know that the building was set up for construction in the early 2000s. But in the Second Republic, there has been rapid progress in terms of development.
“You can see now the building is awaiting the official opening. Ninety-five percent of the work is done. This speaks to the speed at which things are being done in the Second Republic under the astute leadership of our President, Dr ED Mnangagwa,” he said.
Advocate Ndudzo went on to say the development also shows the commitment by the Government to invest in the education sector.
“The development also speaks to the investment that is being placed by our Government in developing critical skills that will drive our industry, mining, agriculture, our construction, and allied industries.
“These skills will then bring the fulfilment of our national vision, ‘Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo,’ as we journey towards a prosperous upper-middle-income economy by 2030,” he said.
He said as a nation, Zimbabwe is taking strategic steps towards the attainment of Vision 2030.
Advocate Ndudzo said the college is moulding skilled personnel who are critical in building Zimbabwe.
“Kushinga Phikelela is the only polytechnic institution in the whole of our three Mashonaland Provinces, which are Mashonaland East, Central, and West.
“It is the only tertiary institution that is offering polytechnic studies, which are critical and essential in ensuring that we have people with the right skills, knowledge and competencies to build our nation.
“I am impressed by what I have witnessed today. This college is churning out graduates that are making a big impact across our industrial, agricultural, and business sectors,” Advocate Ndudzo said.
