‘Second Republic ensured food security’

ONE of the major achievements of President Mnangagwa’s administration is ensuring that farmers grow the country’s food, achieving self-sufficiency in the last three years, Zanu PF Women’s League Secretary General for administration, Cde Monica Mutsvangwa said yesterday.

She was addressing hundreds of delegates from different denominations under the Zimbabwe Indigenous Interdenominational Council of Churches (ZIICC) during a prayer meeting held at Mutare Hall yesterday.

“We are no longer importing food as a country and that has been enabled by President Mnangagwa’s able leadership,” said Cde Mutsvangwa.

“Before the new political dispensation, we were importing grain from neighbouring countries, but the astute leadership (of President Mnangagwa) that instituted productive agricultural initiatives, ensured the country attains food self-sufficiency.

“But each time we have elections, we have economic destabilisation tactics instigated by hostile nations and fronted by local opposition political elements.

“This is why we have been witnessing currency instability and price hikes of basic commodities.”

Cde Mutsvangwa said every Zimbabwean now knows that economic destabilisation efforts were meant to create the impression that ZANU PF had failed, when in fact it was a creation of the country’s detractors.

“The people realise that President Mnangagwa’s administration is changing lives, and are refusing to be swayed by regime change agents,” said Cde Mutsvangwa.

“The Harare-Beitbridge highway, Beitbridge Border Post upgrade and many more developmental projects speak for themselves,” said Cde Mutsvangwa. Some international journalists were in the country to appreciate the peace and developments being spearheaded by the Second Republic.

“Even the international media now understands that the narrative that was all along being peddled by hostile nations about Zimbabwe is not true at all.

“As I leave here, I am rushing to Harare for a meeting with 30 journalists from international publications who have had an appreciation of the good things that are happening in Zimbabwe,” said Cde Mutsvangwa.

President Mnangagwa valued the role played by indigenous churches in fostering unity and peace, hence the pledge to avail more land for them to conduct their prayer sessions, said Cde Mutsvangwa.

Speaking at the same event, ZIIC secretary general, Mr Thasin Dube, thanked President Mnangagwa’s Government for its support and respect for the church.

Zanu PF leadership and election candidates from Dangamvura, Chikanga, Mutare Central and Mutasa South constituencies, were represented at the prayer meeting.

Gospel of God Church, Zion Christian Church, AAFIZ, Zion Apostolic Church, Family of God International, Living Life International Ministry, ZAOGA Forward in Faith, CPCA, Anglican Church, Jekenisheni and Leading Light International, Kutenda KweVatumwa Apostolic Church, Zviratidzo ZveVapostori, among other ZIICC affiliates, graced the occasion.
