Two women are at loggerheads after the other one let the cat out of the bag and told her best friend’s boyfriend that she has children from her past relationship, resulting in the collapsing of the affair.

Valery Gwenzi told Cassandra Muronda’s boyfriend that Muronda was keeping her children away from him.

The two former friends are now sworn enemies after the gossip reached the wrong ears. This emerged at the Mutare Magistrates Civil Court where Gwenzi was applying for a peace order against Muronda.

Gwenzi said Muronda stormed her house and confronted her over the issue.

She was also bashed for snitching on Muronda.

“She came to my house on February 13 and asked me if I had told her boyfriend that she had children. I professed ignorance over the issue since I had not spoken to her boyfriend.

“However, she did not accept my explanation and she assaulted me. I reported the matter to the police and she was arrested. She paid a fine, but ever since then I do not have peace in my life as she has been stalking me and giving me a torrid time,” said Gwenzi.

“She is threatening to beat me up. She said she will not stop until she gets her revenge. I am scared of staying at my house because she is always making unannounced visits to confront me. I have tried to knock some sense in her head, but in vain. She should ask her boyfriend who told him about her children, not to harass me,” said Gwenzi.

“She is going around town tarnishing my image. She tells people that I have an incurable sexually transmitted disease. She is also dragging my children into our dispute,” she said.

Gwenzi added that Muronda thinks that she got US$20 as a token of appreciation for telling the man in question about the children.

“She is also demanding the money that she claims I was given by her boyfriend as a token of appreciation for being a snitch. She said the boyfriend said I had saved him from making a grave mistake of marrying her, of which I did not,” said Gwenzi.

Muronda said she does not regret bashing Gwenzi as she wrecked her relationship.

“She deserved the bashing. I will not hesitate to thrash her again in future. She was my best friend and I trusted her with everything and she backstabbed me by telling my boyfriend that I am a mother. I had my own reasons for not sharing that information with my boyfriend. Who is she to tell him that?” charged Muronda.

She said her friend was jealous of her as her boyfriend was about to marry her and decided to ruin everything.

“I called her on the day that I was supposed to go for introductions. I was getting my nails done and I told her that I wanted her to accompany me for the introductions at my boyfriend’s parent’s house. She agreed and asked me where my boyfriend was and I told her that he was in town waiting for me to buy a decent dress and also get my hair done.

“She went behind my back and called my boyfriend. She arranged that they meet in town before going for the introductions. She met with my boyfriend and told him about my children. When I called my boyfriend, his mood had changed.

“He asked me three times if I had children and I denied having any children, not knowing that he had already gathered that information from my best friend. He confided in me that Gwenzi had told him that I had children. This rocked our relationship and the introductions were put on ice. She did all this for US$20,” said Muronda.

Mutare magistrate, Mr Xavier Chipato granted the peace order in Gwenzi’s favour.

The order bars Muronda from insulting, assaulting, harassing, intimidating and threatening her former friend.

The peace order will be valid for two years.
