A 56-year-old man employed by General Belting Company as a security guard was dragged to court yesterday for allegedly stealing two metal beams worth US$900.
Langton Msinawakho, of Sizinda suburb, appeared before Bulawayo Magistrate Mr Maxwell Ncube facing charges of theft.
The theft was discovered by the complainant, Peter Machacha, the security officer representing the company.
Mr Ncube scheduled Msinawakho’s next court appearance for 24 December.
The prosecutor, Ms Hazel Siphiwe Sithole, said Msinawakho committed the offence on 12 November at around 5pm when he stole two 1.5-metre metal beams.
“The total value stolen is US$900, and nothing was recovered by the company,” Ms Sithole told the court.
In October, a 30-year-old man employed as a security guard at OK Supermarket was fined US$200 after being convicted of two counts of theft by a Bulawayo provincial magistrate.
