A 44 – year-old security guard has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after being found guilty of raping his 14-year-old neighbour’s daughter.
He was convicted at the Harare Magistrates’ Court.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), the incident occurred on October 11, 2025, at around 5 pm.
The teenager was walking home from nearby shops when the offender approached the girl and ordered her to accompany him to an unfinished house nearby.
Once inside, he forcibly restrained the victim by covering her mouth before forcing her to undress.
“He forced her to undress and raped her,” reads the statement.
The offender threatened her not to report the incident and gave her US$2 to buy her silence.
The victim immediately informed her mother, who reported the matter to the ZRP Marimba Whitehouse Post.
The offender was arrested and the victim was referred for a medical examination. The NPA warned that the sexual abuse of minors by adults, regardless of gender, is a serious crime with lasting psychological effects on victims and reaffirms its bring justice.
“The NPAZ remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring that perpetrators are brought to justice and held fully accountable under the law,” reads the statement.
