Security guard killed over bottle store’s operating time

A 38-year-old security guard was killed in Zaka following an argument with a man over the operating time of a bottle store.

Police are appealing to anyone with information that might assist in the arrest of the suspect who has only been identified as Augustine.

National police Commissioner Paul Nyathi said, “Police in Masvingo are appealing for information which may assist in the arrest of a male suspect only identified as Augustine who is being sought in connection with the murder of Edmore Mugwazhi aged 38.

“On August 24, 2024, the victim, who was a security guard at a bottle store at Choga Business Centre, Zaka engaged in a scuffle with the suspect following an argument over the bottle store’s operating hours.”

He said the suspect kicked the victim indiscriminately all over the body and fled from the scene.

The victim sustained multiple injuries and was ferried to Masvingo General Hospital where he succumbed to injuries on August 26, 2024 while receiving treatment.
