A 13-year-old girl fell pregnant after being allegedly raped three times by her sister’s husband.
The alleged rape took place in August while the sister was attending a funeral in Masvingo.
Tatenda Mhene (31) appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi, who advised him to apply for bail at the High Court.
The State said after Mhene’s wife went to the funeral on August 23, he forced himself on his minor sister-in-law at their one-room rented house in Hatfield.
It is said Mhene first asked the minor, who was sleeping on the floor, to have sexual intercourse with him, but she refused.
Mhene then allegedly forcibly undressed her and threatened her with death before raping her.
He again raped the girl in the morning before leaving for his security guard work.
Mhene’s wife returned after a week and, on the night of her return, he waited for her to sleep and then got into his sister-in-law’s blankets, but she turned him away.
The following night, Mhene again waited for his wife to sleep and then demanded sex from the minor, threatening to kill her and her sister.
The State said Mhene raped the girl for the third time while his wife slept.
