Security guard vanishes with nearly US$87k

A 43-YEAR-OLD security guard has disappeared after stealing nearly US$87 000 cash in Victoria Falls.

The suspect, Jumani Chuma was employed as a cash-in-transit officer responsible for operating the security company’s vault.

His whereabouts are still not known and police have launched a manhunt for the suspects.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.

“The ZRP is appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of Jumani Chuma, aged 43, who is wanted in connection with a case of theft which occurred in Victoria Falls,” he said. The suspect, who was employed at a security company as a cash-in-transit officer responsible for operating the vault where the company kept its funds, allegedly went missing on March 30, 2026.

“Following an audit, the company discovered that US$86 989 was unaccounted for. Anyone with information that might assist with investigations should contact the nearest police station,” he said.
