FOUR security guards stand accused of brutally assaulting a Murereka man for allegedly stealing potatoes at a farm in Chinhoyi.
The incident took place last Thursday when the deceased, who was 53, was attacked by the quartet.
The four have since been arrested and appeared in court and denied bail.
In a statement, national police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the murder.
“On 09/06/22, ZRP Murereka arrested four security guards in connection with a case of murder which occurred at Highbury Farm Murereka, in Chinhoyi.
“The suspects took turns to assault the victim (53) with a button stick and a wooden log all over the body.
“They also poured water on the victim for allegedly stealing some potatoes at the farm.
“The victim died at his homestead at Windsock Farm, Murereka, where he had been dumped by the suspects. #notomurdern,” reads the statement.
