Talented Zim dancehall artiste Seh Calaz believes he has come a long way in his career and it is time to divert his energy more to music than controversy.
The chanter who made an entry into the local scene with a diss track that was directed towards Winky D has been making headlines lately for fist fighting with fellow dancehall artiste Quonfused.
However, Seh Calaz might be calling for a truce as he celebrates his 24th birthday tomorrow.
According to his equally controversial manager Godfery “Vocal” Bakasa, Seh Calaz’s upcoming birthday has inspired him to see things differently.
“Seh Calaz has done a lot of growing up in the industry and has realised that it is time for professionalism.
“Controversies will always be a part of the music business but his efforts will now be directed towards his music,” he said.
The artistes has so far scheduled his first ever birthday gig that will see various artistes performing at Stodart Hall in Mbare.
Uprising Kwekwe-based deejay, Steven “DJ Stavo” Sanders, Dhadza D, Shinsoman, Rickie Perplex, Kinnah, Killer T, Game Recognises Game and urban groove artistes Ngoni Kambarami and Knox will be part of the mix.
“This is the first time that Seh Calaz has thrown a birthday gig and we are planning to make it one to remember. We had lined up a lot for the day, including an official album launch but due to technical glitches we will only hold the bash and record a DVD on the day,” he said.
The DVD, according to Vocal, will be for marketing purposes as they were aiming at selling the artiste’s music beyond the country’s borders.
“As mentioned earlier, it is now professionalism all the way.
“We have hired a production company that will make the recording while guests can be assured of the presence of high security at the bash.
“We have two generators on stand by in case there is a power cut and believe me it’s going to be fireworks,” he said.
