The Zanu-PF Mashonaland East provincial executive committee has begun preparations to host the party’s 18th Annual National People’s Conference to be held in Seke district in December.

Speaking during a provincial coordinating meeting at the party office in Marondera on Sunday, the party’s provincial chairperson Cde Joel Biggie Matiza said they were now setting up committees in preparation for the event.

“We discussed the venue as the PEC, taking into consideration security issues and availability of accommodation,” he said.

“After the deliberations, we have settled for Seke District since it is closer to Harare. The conference will be held at Mandedza High School.

“By next week, committees will be established as we prepare for the annual conference.”

During the PEC meeting, Cde Matiza called for unity within the party.

“We should work in solidarity as a party to promote development,” he said.

“All the misunderstandings within the party affect the county’s development. Instead of causing disunity within the party, let us talk about issues that support devolution.”

Last year’s annual conference was held in Esigodini, Matabeleland South.

At the conference in Esigodini, all party wings reaffirmed that the President and First Secretary of the party, Cde Mnangagwa, is the sole candidate for the 2023 harmonised elections, and that all structures would start preparations for the 2023 harmonised elections immediately.
