THEY often say the wheels of justice turn slowly but grind exceedingly fine. This is true.
A 35-year-old paedophile from Seke, who masqueraded as a karate instructor as a way of luring young boys, might have succeeded in concealing his dastardly acts for two years (between January 2022 and January 2024) but the long arm of the law eventually caught up with him.
The pervert from the Chief Seke area, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the minors, posed as a boy scout trainer and karate instructor, and targeted young boys between the ages of nine and 10.
After grooming his victims, he would conveniently take advantage of camp days to abuse them.
Before the unspeakable abuse, the minors would be instructed to bath, after which they were shown pornographic material that was stored on his laptop.
After conditioning his victims, he would then indecently assault them.
Unable to stomach the humiliating abuse, one of the victims subsequently spilled the beans to his parents, who alerted the other unsuspecting parents in a WhatsApp group.
The sex pest was picked up by the police and hauled before a Chitungwiza regional magistrate, facing seven counts of aggravated indecent assault and six counts of breaching the Data Protection Act.
Unamused by such egregious abuse of trust, the court thought it best to lock him up and throw away the keys, as he was slapped with a 28-year jail sentence.
It means chances are he will step out of prison as a 63-year-old man in 2052.
Good riddance!
