REHABILITATION of the Seke Road under the Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme is progressing well with the contractor having finally reached Chitungwiza in the south-bound lane from Harare city centre.

Bitumen is working swiftly on the project and is now set to switch to the north-bound lane from Chitungwiza heading to Harare.

The Second Republic believes that modernising national transport infrastructure will spur economic growth and development.

Motorists yesterday expressed gratitude for works on the once potholed road.

Mrs Chiedza Mukundidza said Government is doing a commendable job by prioritising the completion of the road.

“It is pleasing to see that the road has finally reached Chitungwiza. There is now going to be a smooth flow of traffic.

“Time taken from Chitungwiza to Harare City Centre will also be reduced. Potholes were delaying the smooth flow of traffic,” she said.

Mr Proud Panganai said motorists should exercise caution when driving.

“The road is now in good shape so my plea is motorists should avoid speeding which may lead to accidents,” he said.

“Especially the notorious illegal pirating taxis and kombis who may rush so as to maximise profits on increased number of trips per day”.

Mr Delight Chinyama said the completion of the road is good as it will lead to the smooth flow of traffic.

“Going to and from work has been wearisome due to serious traffic congestion that was being caused by the bad road. Thanks to the Government for such a noble initiative,” he said.

The New Dispensation, under the leadership of President Mnangagwa, is committed to infrastructure development and creating employment for the locals.
