Villagers in Ward 6 in Seke, Mashonaland East Province have welcomed construction of a clinic in Dizha Village, as Government fulfils its promise of bringing health institutions, among other facilities, closer to the people.
The clinic is being constructed through the Government’s Constituency Development Fund (CDF)
CDF will cater for the entire construction of the clinic while the Manyame Rural District Council will assist by constructing staff quarters for nurses who will be working at the clinic.
Labour will be provided by the community, which has already supplied over 90 000 bricks.
When complete, the clinic is strategically positioned and will serve communities like Chihota, Simukai, Zhakata and Chirimamhunga.
Recently, Seke Constituency legislator Cde Munyaradzi Kashambe (Zanu PF) brought all the materials needed to start and complete the construction.
Handing over the materials to Ward 6 CouncillorIan Manyere, Cde Kashambe appealed to villagers to have unity of purpose for them to achieve more.
He said construction of clinics through CDF was one of the New Dispensation’s objectives to improve the people’s lives by bringing services closer to their doorsteps.
“All the materials required for the construction of this clinic have already been procured. Nothing will stop its completion. This clinic is yours and I want to commend you the community for working hard through the provision of labour and other essentials.”
One of the villagers, Gogo Mandlovu who was present when the building material was handed over to the councillor, said their wish was for the construction to be completed soon to ease the burden of walking for more than 8km to the nearest clinic.
“Our challenge is that we walk for a long distance to Zhandira Clinic. We are suffering and our wish is for the construction of this clinic to be fast tracked so that we can be served nearer.”
Another villager Mrs Sarah Rice said: “We walk roughly 18km to the next clinic. That alone would make someone worse if he or she is sick.
“Imagine a pregnant woman walking for over 8km. That is not proper as some end up giving birth at home, a scenario which is not encouraged. It is not safe.
“We want to thank Government and our MP for this noble idea and also for listening to our concerns. We are thankful.”
Cllr Manyere also thanked Government for living up to its promise and urged his ward to work hard in unity.
