MWOS forward Billy Veremu says he is adapting to his new lifestyle after an impressive start to the Castle Lager Premiership.
Veremu became the first Punters player to win the Player of The Month award.
The 29-year-old is jointly leading the Golden Boot race with TelOne’s Washington Navaya after busting the net nine times.
He fits in well with the description of a late bloomer having had forgettable spells with Ngezi Platinum, Bulawayo Chiefs and Simba Bhora.
But, as fate would have it, destiny wanted his name to be remembered for being the spearhead of MWOS’ championship chase.
The Norton side are leading the championship race with 30 points and four points clear of their closest rivals, Simba Bhora.
Veremu’s popularity doubled after scoring the solitary strike which floored Scottland in a fixture which can only be described as a grudge match.
Selfie requests are now his daily routine and he admitted that it came with his fine run.
“The selfies and attention is something new to me but I have been trying to take it all with humility,” said Veremu.
“I’m still the same person. This club has opened up new opportunities and experiences. I’m always reminding myself where I’m coming from and what values I stand for.
“It shows you are doing something right to some extent because it is something I never imagined.
“I also make time for myself to reflect and recharge, so I can stay balanced. I just want to keep improving using this platform in a positive way.”
