SELMA Mtukudzi marked the 16th anniversary of her brother Sam’s death yesterday with a touching message on her social media platforms.
Sam died on March 15, 2010.
He was just 21.
“It’s 16 years today since you passed little bro, you would have turned 38 yrs in a couple of weeks, I wonder how you would look like,” said Selma.
“I doubt you would have had a full beard, I miss you dude. Can you believe people still talk about you today? You left a mark my guy. Continue to rest in peace. “
She then asked her followers to name their favourite track from Sam.

I remember back in 2017 doing my Grade 12 matric, played the song (Ishe samatenga kani yeuka . . .) to my good old friend, a lingala-French speaker. That’s e first tym I learnt a good song, be it in a foreign language u won’t understand, it always finds its way to a listeners’ heart. Likewise in that moment it was quite a scene to see the young lady, with little to no knowledge of Shona words, vibing, adoring and with gibberish lyrics singing along to the song however the mood later turned quite sad when she found out the young man behind e vocals tragically died years ago, maaan she was devastated. Anyways RIP Sam Mtukudzi, your legacy lives forever in your music and will spread throughout this continent and beyond, forever engraved in your fans’ hearts. — Todd DaNebulatd

It’s so sad, the lad was humble n loving n he left a strong wound that ignited sickness on his Dad, I remember Tuku singing Saratoga and he would say “Ah ndasuwa Sam” and he would cry. Sam’s death brought a sombre character on Tuku n his life never enlightened again, he would live and talk but mourning inside for a long time. Maybe his presence would have unified the family but heaven had its thoughts. Continue to Rest Samanyanga you are forever cherished. — Anyway SImbarashe Mapiye
