Selmor, Tendai release Ndinewe

In a statement, Selmor and Tendai give an insight into the album that carries the theme, naked truth, which is also aptly captured photographically in the CD’s sleeve cover picture.
“Our naked torsos in the cover picture of the CD sleeve symbolises the theme of the album — naked truth. You will realise that the theme does not necessarily relate to the selection of the songs on the album, but rather to the messages we are conveying to each other as spouses,” Selmor said.

The album is another of Tuku Music Productions which was released during the Easter holidays.
“This album was to be the first one with us putting our efforts together as spouses and so we were saying to one another that here I am with all my perfections and imperfections and I want to work with you and be with you in all truth with nothing hidden,” Tendai said.

The two said they had favoured collaborations between the two of them for a number of reasons.
“We thought that combining our talents and efforts would make us a stronger team. It also works in our favour that when we are touring we are together,” he said.

However, each one of them has albums to their credit and Ndinewe is their second album together and carries eight tracks.
They collaborated on writing the seven tracks, except for the track Baba Munodirei that was written by Tendai’s father, Zexie Manatsa.

“Our music is easy to the ear though it carries messages that are strongly advising people to work hard, treat each other with respect and desist from indulging in the forbidden. You can also find yourself dancing to the songs,” Selmor said.

She said with each release they were trying to do better.
“Although we recorded the album three years ago (2009) we find it significantly relevant today and feel it has come out at the right time,” she said.
The album was produced at Studio Pakare Paye in Norton and produced by Sam and Owen Chimhare. Both Sam and Owen died in 2010 in a car accident in Harare.
