Senate ratifies protocol

“If this Government last another nine months, we would have domesticated this law to make sure we protect our people,” Minister Makone said.
Government, she said, acceded to the protocol in December 2003. Contributing to the motion, Chief Fortune Charumbira said it was disheartening that Government has taken long to ratify the protocol that was meant to protect Zimbabweans.
“What will be the apprehension in Government if it delays to bring such an excellent piece of work which everyone should naturally support?” Chief Charumbira queried.
“Our border has become very porous, there are a lot of accomplices where our people like the police, Zimra and other officials actually facilitate that these people cross the border illegally. It’s impossible for us to arrest these evil practices if we don’t incorporate them in the protocol.”
