adminSSGT Manyika (44) died on Wednesday at Chitungwiza’s St Michael’s Clinic after a short illness.
He was born in Shamva in 1968 and attended Maramba Pfungwe Primary School before going to Madziwa Secondary School for his ordinary level.
He did his Advanced Level at Christian College of Southern Africa in 1988 before joining the ZNA in 1989.
He obtained journalism qualifications from the Harare Polytechnic in 1996 and a BSc in Media Studies from the Zimbabwe Open University.
“For most of his period of service SSGT Manyika served as a senior reporter at the Directorate of Army Public Relations. In 2006, he was appointed Brigade Public Relations Officer for 3 Infantry Brigade in Mutare.
“In 2009 he was appointed Brigade Public Relations Officer for Infantry Brigade in Kwekwe and later appointed assistant editor of the ZNA Magazine at the Directorate,” reads a statement from the ZNA.
He was awarded the Independence, 10-year service, 15-year service, Mozambique Campaign and Democratic Republic of Congo medals.
He is survived by his wife Sandra and four children.
