Senior officials sign performance contracts

President Mnangagwa will this morning preside over the signing of performance contracts and an awards ceremony for ministers and senior public sector officials.

The President continues to reiterate the Government’s commitment to efficiency, accountability, and transparency, which is necessary to attain Vision 2030.

For the first time, deputy ministers, commissioners and deputy chief secretaries will also sign performance contracts, thereby expanding the accountability framework introduced in 2021.

Public Service Commission (PSC)’s chairman Dr Vincent Hungwe has taken to the podium to give welcome remarks.

He says it is pleasing to note that performance is cumulatively improving year by year.

“We have prize deserving performances in all categories,” he said.

Evaluation of Ministers, Permanent Secretaries

Dr Rushwaya is now leading the next segment.

He says 25 Cabinet Ministers were evaluated, with none exceeding set targets.

Twenty-six Permanent Secretaries were evaluated.

None exceeded set targets, 15 met set targets, while 11 were below set targets but within variance.

Five Provincial Ministers met set targets, while the other five were below set targets but within variance.

All 10 Provincial Secretaries were evaluated and none exceeded set targets.

Vice President Dr Constatino Chiwenga has taken to the podium to introduce President Mnangagwa.

Dr Chiwenga said the signing of perfomance contract had seen an increase in performance.

He says the signing of performance contracts has become key as the Second Republic accelerates the implementation of Vision 2030.

The President said the Second Republic remains committed to building a responsive governance system.

“The public sector must resist temptations of complacency and comfort . . . ,” he said.

He urged Government ministries, departments and agencies to serve Zimbabweans with utmost dignity.

“That mandatory task is on us all,” he said.

The President also called Minister Kirsty Coventry to the podium to congratulate her on her recent election as International Olympic Committee president.
