A SENSATIONAL fallout between two church leaders, triggered by accusations of false prophecies and allegations of using sangomas to get powers to give such prophecies, is set to be heard at a traditional court in Murehwa.
Professor Chingwaru, of the Zvipo Zvevapostori Church, is accusing Tonderai Nhepura Bonga, of the Mugodhi Apostolic Church, of making false prophecies which have left his congregation and family divided.
The two men are scheduled to appear before Chief Nyajina Dyora on May 10, at Mashambanhaka Village, in Murehwa.
Chingwaru claims Bonga gave prophecies to members of his family, accusing him of consulting a sangoma for prophetic powers – an allegation he claims led to him being challenged and led to the formation of a breakaway ministry.
“I approached the traditional court for justice,” Chingwaru said.
“Bonga, who is a member of the Mugodi Apostolic Church, gave false prophecies to my family members. He claimed I went to seek spiritual help so that I could be able to prophesy and strengthen my ministry.
“The claims made against me spread and they caused division.
“I want the traditional chief to hear my case. Akanditi ndakarombera simba rekuporofita.”

When contacted for comment, Bonga denied making the specific accusations which Chingwaru now claims were directed at him.“I have been summoned to the traditional chief over my prophecies,” Bonga said.
“I asked to be excused because I am attending a funeral. The chief’s secretary agreed to move the date. As for the case brought to court, I am not the one who made such prophecies.
“One of my church members, based in Chitungwiza, is the person who made the claims. I will attend the court to exonerate myself from the case,” Bonga said.
