A 53-year-old Harare man yesterday admitted to sexually abusing nine children including two girls all below the age of 12.

The victims are from the perpetrator’s neighbourhood and were lured using cash and snacks.

Handson Chinamhora of Stoneridge Park, admitted to sexually abusing the children when he appeared before Harare regional magistrate Mr Ignatio Mhene charged with eight counts of aggravated indecent assault and rape.

He, however, denied sodomising one of the boys and raping a 10-year-old girl saying he only rubbed his manhood against their privates.

Chinamhora was remanded in custody to today for sentencing.

The State led by Mr Shepherd Makondo heard that between March and September this year, an eight-year-old boy went to Chinamhora’s residence to watch television and to play games on his cellphone.

Chinamhora then ordered the boy to lie down and removed his pants before sodomising him.

It is alleged that he sodomised the boy on five separate occasions between March and September this year.

The court heard that during the same period, Chinamhora called a 10-year-old girl to his room and asked her to wash his plates and she agreed.

Chinamhora later forced the girl to lie down on her stomach and started rubbing his manhood on her privates and later raped her.

After the act, which the State said was repeated on separate occasions, Chinamhora would then give her biscuits, cash, sweets and mealies to buy her silence.

Between June and August this year, Chinamhora rubbed his manhood on another eight-year-old boy’s privates.

Chinamhora used the same modus operandi on other boys until he was caught red-handed while sexually abusing a sister to a six-year-old child he had also abused.

The two revealed the abuse to their mother leading to Chinamhora’s arrest.
