THREE men, already in remand prison for armed robbery, were back in court yesterday on fresh robbery and rape charges.

Rashi Adam Chipanga, Joseph Makoni and Tawanda Gau were charged with seven counts of armed robbery and rape.

Their accomplices — Talkmore Masanga and Clayton Sango — appeared in court last week.

The court heard that armed with a pistol and machetes, the gang robbed Caroline Tembekire in Zengeza, Chitungwiza, in March last year, after breaking into her house, through a window.

They ordered Tembekire and her children to lie down at gunpoint before tying them together, covering them with a blanket and ransacking the house.

They stole US$1 300, a CCTV DVR, sneakers, a cellphone and laptop.

They attacked Charity Karonga at her house in April armed with a 303 rifle, before robbing Tanyaradzwa Honzi.

They also robbed Fairness Tsitsi Mangwende and her sister.

On June 15, the gang pounced on another Chitungwiza family, ransacked the house and stole US$1 470, three cellphones and groceries.

During the robbery, two of the robbers dragged the maid to another room and took turns to rape her.
