Service station loses US$9k to armed robbers

Six armed men attacked a security guard and motorist fuelling his vehicle in Eastview before they broke into the service station office and stole US$9 670.

The robbers who were armed with guns and wearing balaclavas used explosives to blow up a safe where the money was.

They also took US$20 from the motorist.

National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, said the robbers also attacked a security guard at a nearby lodge and stole US$50 and an Itel cellphone.
