A MANAGER at Comoil Service Station in Bulawayo reportedly stole cash amounting to $14,000 from his employer.
Khanyile Sibanda, 43, of Nkulumane appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Sibongile Msipa facing two counts of theft.Prosecuting, Tafadzwa Mutsambiwa told how between February and September last year, Sibanda received rentals from Comoil Lupane kiosk, which he was supposed to deposit into the company’s CBZ account.
He allegedly converted the $2,500 money to his personal use.
“On May 3, 4, 8 and from 28th to the 3rd of June, Sibanda collected money from sales made from Robert Mugabe and Eastcot Northend branches, which he was to deposit into the company’s bank account and converted it to his personal use,” said Mutsambiwa.
The money lost was $11,860 and nothing was recovered.
According to court papers, Sibanda had promised to restitute $14,360 by June 20 but failed to do so, leading to his arrest.
Magistrate Msipa granted him $200 bail on condition that he does not interfere with state witnesses, resides at his place of residence and reports once every Monday to Bulawayo Central Police Station.
He will appear in court on July 4.
