SEVEN Flames coach Kudakwashe Matuwi says lack of consistency is costing his side in their campaign in the Northern Region Division One Soccer League.
The army side host Zatex at Rufaro tomorrow and they are desperate for a win to restore the team’s confidence following a 0-3 drubbing at the hands of Blue Jets last Saturday.
Seven Flames have been struggling to maintain their form away from home, losing 0-3 to Lake Harvest, before going down with the same scoreline against Blue Jets last week.
“Things are difficult, consistency has been a problem. We are not doing well in the away games but at home we are playing well,’ said Matuwi.
“So, we are not taking this game lightly, we have to work hard. We want maximum points to remain in good position because when you reach this stage of the season with six matches already played you need to maintain some consistency.
“We are trying to psyche our players because we have ups and downs, that’s what happens when you win and lose.
“We have to work on the mental side of things so that they do not look down when they lose.”
The Seven Flames gaffer said although they need to start picking points consistently they will be cautious in tomorrow’s encounter.
“A losing team is dangerous, they want to pick points so it’s a tough match and it’s always difficult to play a losing team,” said Matuwi.
Seven Flames will be missing their midfielders Trust Torovasei and Allan Madukani due to injuries as well as Dennis Dembwe, their second choice goalkeeper.
Zatex are making their debut appearance in Division One and are finding the going tough as they are anchoring the table with just two points out of a possible 18.
In other matches log leaders Ngezi Platinum have a date against Blue Swallows at Baobab in Ngezi.
Blue Swallows, who are fifth on the log table with 11 points, just three behind Ngezi would want to close the gap separating them from the log leaders.
