POLICE have arrested a seventh suspect in connection with the brutal murder of prominent businessman Joseph Mutangadura, who was shot dead during a robbery at his Ruwa farmhouse in August this year.

Webster Nhau (51) was apprehended at his home in Ruwa on Sunday, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to seven.

In a statement, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the latest arrest, saying investigations were progressing well.

“The ZRP confirms the arrest of Webster Nhau, aged 51, in connection with the robbery and murder of businessman Joseph Mutangadura (67) on August 17, 2025, at Mutangadura Hideout Farm in Ruwa,” said Comm Nyathi.

“The suspect was arrested near his residence along Dustan Road, Ruwa, on November 2, 2025. To date, seven suspects have been arrested in connection with the case.”

Nhau’s arrest follows that of two men — Tariro Mutsamanye (34) and Dexter Tinashe Mugaro (31) — who were detained last week.

The pair, who already have multiple pending armed robbery cases before the courts, appeared before Harare regional magistrate Mr Marehwanazvo Gofa and were remanded in custody to next month.

They were advised to apply for bail at the High Court since they face a Third Schedule offence, which covers serious crimes such as armed robbery and murder.

Four other suspects, including two brothers, had earlier been arrested, with police saying the gang members appear to be closely related.

Mutangadura was killed on the night of August 17 after seven armed men raided his Mutangadura Hideout Farm.

Around 11.15pm, the property’s security guard, Bonus Kadiwa, heard dogs barking and went to investigate.

He spotted two men crawling near the gardener’s cottage but was grabbed from behind and threatened with a pistol before he could react.

The gang, armed with claw bars, hammers and pistols, force-marched the guard around the house before breaking down the main door to gain entry.

Kadiwa later realised there were seven attackers, all wearing balaclavas.
