Several artists will converge at Morris Depot this Saturday for this year’s edition of the Zimbabwe Republic Police Commissioner-General’s Funfair.Top musicians, among them Alick Macheso, Jah Prayzah, Pastor Charles and Olivia Charamba, Sulumani Chimbetu, Nicholas Zakaria, Peter Moyo and Fungisai Zvakavapano Mashavave are expected to thrill the fans.
The Police Band will also perform at the event where children will be treated to police vehicle rides, motor-bike rides and jumping castles.
The funfair which is an annual event is in its 17th year running and is a brainchild of the Commissioner-General of the Zimbabwe Republic Police. According to show organisers this year’s event is expected to be bigger compared to previous years as its main objective is to raise funds for the less privileged children.
Some artistes who spoke to The Herald Entertainment said they were geared for some fun and action.
Joe Nyamungoma who is Orchestra Dendera Kings’ publicist said they would use the opportunity to mix and mingle with fans apart from stage performances.
“This is a family event and obviously we will have time to sign autographs and have photos with fans,” he said. He said they will also treat the crowd to a preview of the songs from their coming album that will be released next month.
On a holy note, the Charambas who are the leading gospel couple are expected to give their latest offering “WeNazareta” for the first time ever since its launch.
Sungura maestro Macheso will use the opportunity to share his South African experience after putting up a scintillating performance at the just ended SADC Music Festival.
The “Madhau” hitmaker who shared the stage with Malawian group called The Black Misssionaries is also expected to sample songs from his coming album that is expected on the market end of year.
