Officials estimated around 30 000 people have been affected by the weekend’s wintry weather, Eyewitness News reported.

One person died from hypothermia in Robertson on Sunday night while a woman died in Wynberg from exposure to the cold conditions.

“We’re doing a periodic update of what requirements there are and where we should assist in response to these incidents,” said provincial disaster risk management’s Colin Deiner.

Provincial traffic officials said at least two people have been killed in road accidents caused by the weather. — News24
