A MAN is battling for his life after his sex-starved second wife poured hot cooking oil on him.
The woman, Chiedza Totai (43), has since appeared before Shurugwi magistrate, Sithabile Zungula, charged with domestic violence.
Totai was remanded in custody to May 21, pending her husband’s Shepherd Gwenzi medical examination.
She claimed Gwenzi was dedicating most of his time to his first wife while neglecting her.
Totai has denied the charges claiming she mistakenly poured the hot cooking oil on Gwenzi even after boiling it while he was asleep.
Gwenzi suffered burns on his face and upper parts of the body and he is admitted at Shurugwi District Hospital.
Prosecutor Kwanele Njini said on May 4, at Village 2 Rentfontein, Shurugwi, the two had a misunderstanding over conjugal rights, while they were in bed at around 6 am.
Totai woke up and went to her kitchen where she boiled cooking oil in a pot, returned and poured it over Gwenzi’s face while he was still asleep.
The matter was reported at Shurugwi Police Station leading to Totai’s arrest.
Totai told the court that she wanted to use the oil to make fat cakes.
She failed to explain why the pot ended up in the bedroom.
