A WOMAN who told a court that her husband was starving her of sex while tormenting her and their children, has been granted a protection order against the man.

Grace Hutete, 46, from Redcliff told Kwekwe magistrate, Vimbai Mutukwa, that her husband, Leonard Mabungu, has been denying her sex for the past six months.

“Your Worship, I hardly see this man at home and he has left me to raise our two mentally challenged children alone. He deprives me of my conjugal rights as his wife and I’ve been sexually starved for nearly six months now,” she said.

The court heard Mabungu was in the habit of selling household property without his wife’s consent.

Every time he came home, the court heard, he would physically and verbally abuse his wife and children.

Hutete begged the magistrate to grant her the order to protect her and her two children from her abusive husband.

She told the court that efforts to reconcile were in vain as they had engaged relatives and the police to help them but her husband still continued being abusive.

Magistrate Mutukwa granted her a protection order that is effective for the next five years.

“The courts are not there to encourage divorce and broken families but to encourage families to make peace, reconcile and raise their children together.

“Therefore this order is effected for the next five years and will restrain you from harassing each other,” she said.
