PARENTS are the “ultimate role models” for children but that has no meaning for a Bulawayo man accused of sleeping with an assortment of women in the presence of his four-year-old son.
Ephraim Dhlamini is accused of bringing girlfriends to his matrimonial home in the absence of his wife. It is claimed he also sleeps with them on the same bed with the young child.
His wife Susan Dhlamini revealed this at the Bulawayo Civil Court where she sought a protection order against him.
Ephraim, from old Lobengula suburb, is employed as a Loss Control officer at Zesa Power Station while Susan is a midwife at Royal Women’s Clinic in Hillside.
“Ephraim Dhlamini is my husband and we are married under the Marriages Act Chapter 5: 11 and it still subsists. My husband has been violent since 2013 when I was pregnant. He engages in sexual relationships with several women and brings them to our matrimonial house.
“He sleeps with them on the same bed with our four-year-old son. He also insults me with my private parts and he also threatens to beat me up if I confront him over his misconduct. He also destroys property every time we quarrel over his misbehaviour and threatens me saying he is above the law,” said Susan.
She said their four-year son was now continuously bed-wetting as a result of his father’s actions of sharing the same bed with him and his girlfriends.
She further said her husband was also threatening to bewitch her saying he wants to go to Chipinge and get traditional ways to harm her.
Ephraim refuted the allegations claiming his wife was the one who was abusive.
“The allegations she has levelled against me are not true. The last time I insulted her was in 2014. We are living peacefully but at times she is the one who insults me. She once struck me on the head with a vase.
“I don’t deliberately destroy property as she has alleged and the only time that happened it was a mistake,” responded Ephraim.
Susan however, insisted that the accusations were true adding that on the occasion she struck him with a vase she was acting in self-defence after he assaulted her.
In her ruling the presiding magistrate Adelaide Mbeure granted a reciprocal order which compels both parties not to physically, verbally and emotionally abuse each other.
She also ordered Ephraim not to chase his wife out of their matrimonial house.
