A DISPUTE over a client allegedly turned deadly when two commercial sex workers teamed up and battered a fellow woman with bricks, leaving her with fatal head injuries.
Nokukhanya Ncube and Tadiwanashe Chipindu appeared before Bulawayo Provincial Resident Magistrate Mr Themba Chimiso on Wednesday, facing murder charges.
They were remanded in custody to 22 October for routine remand.
Prosecutor Ms Josiphine Gurazhira told the court that the pair had allegedly clashed with the now-deceased over claims that she had snatched Ncube’s client.
The disagreement allegedly escalated into violence, with the two accused reportedly joining forces to attack the woman with bricks.
“The now deceased sustained a deep cut on the head with blood oozing out. The deceased fell to the floor and became unconscious. Other sex workers tried to perform first aid. An ambulance was called to the scene and arrived swiftly. They carried her and she died while she was being ferried to hospital,” said Ms Gurazhira.
The court heard that police attended the scene and recovered the brick allegedly used in the attack from Ncube.
The woman was taken by ambulance to Mpilo Central Hospital but died on the way.
In a separate case, two men appeared in court facing murder charges following an alleged fatal attack involving a knife and a cue stick.
Modist Bwabwa (24) and Godwin Zhame (26), both from Inyathi in Matabeleland North, appeared before Mr Chimiso on Wednesday. They were remanded to 22 October for routine remand.
The court heard that the now-deceased had tried to intervene in a fight between his friend and Zhame.
Zhame allegedly stabbed the man twice in the head with a knife, while Bwabwa allegedly struck him twice on the head with a cue stick, leaving him unconscious.
He was rushed to hospital but died on arrival.
