Sfiso not boycotting gospel awards

AWARD-WINNING gospel singer Sfiso Ncwane has denied claims that he is boycotting the upcoming Crown Gospel Music Awards.
The singer was responding to a weekend newspaper report that he did not want to be part of the awards.
However, Ncwane, who is said to be in studio recording his new album, denied the claims.
In a strongly worded joint statement released by Ayanda Ncwane, his wife and manager, Zanele Mbokazi of the gospel awards and Bishop Mpendulo Nkambule, Mbokazi’s husband, Sfiso denied boycotting the awards.

Sfiso also said: “I fully support the awards. This is the only event that recognises gospel artists’ work in South Africa. The rumours are not true.”
His wife-manager said: “No one is certain that we are not entering this year, in fact we might. We have never felt that Sfiso is above the awards and we are not in competition with the event.”

Mbokazi, the founder of the awards, said she was happy that the issue had finally been put to rest. She accused the media of perpetuating lies that Ncwane had a sour relationship with her.

“The game is over. He is not boycotting the Crowns. We cannot entertain this any further,” she said. — Sowetan
