Shabanie in crisis?

Blessed Mbavarira and William Ngonya — have been confirmed for next year. Ngonya’s contract expires in June while Mbavarira and Phiri are on loan from an academy that is run by a Shabanie Mine fan. Club president, Greg Mataka, said the club was not facing a crisis.

“We are not in a crisis and I would like to assure everyone that we have the players,” said Mataka.
“We have a very good striker in Artwell (Nyoni) and one of the best centre-backs in Pardon (Marime) who was suspended because of indiscipline and Artwell was nursing an injury and I believe he has now recovered.

“We are not going to stand in the way of players who want to move to other teams, but the truth is most of the players who play for us are employed by the company and by that regard they are still our players.

“We also have other players from relegated Hardbody and other teams who are dying to play for us.”
Mataka, however, conceded they were facing some challenges among them the suspension of coach Luke “Vahombe” Masomere for his alleged role in the Asiagate scandal, but has since appealed against the ban.

Shabanie welfare manager, Sam “Dread” Gondwe, who poured a lot of money into the club to keep it afloat this season is worried.

“The executive must be serious. We do not need the players to suffer. What we simply need is for them to have a meeting with us then we can bail the club,” said Gondwe.
