IT might appear a mismatch but Shabanie Mine technical director Takura Shariwa says Ngezi Platinum could be in for a rough ride when they visit Zvishavane for a date against Shabanie Mine at Maglas tomorrow.
Despite a five-match winless streak, the Zvishavane side have an exceptional home record and Shariwa, who was in the news this week after being assaulted by a hooligan, believes they can add Ngezi’s scalp.
“I am eyeing an improvement to our fortunes at home against Ngezi Platinum on Sunday before we head for Chapungu in our next assignment next week,” he said.
“Ngezi Platinum are a difficult team to beat but we are a match to anyone at home. “We have not picked any point in our previous matches but it’s high time we do so to avoid relegation.
“We are underdogs when playing against Ngezi but they must be guaranteed of a big fight. “They (Ngezi) blow hot and cold in terms of their form.We will not be intimidated.
“We have also managed to do well against some of these big teams. ”I am considering our results against giants in the Premier League like CAPS United and Highlanders.”
They recorded their worst result this season when they were thumped 3-0 by CAPS United in Harare. Ngezi coach Tonderai Ndiraya said he expects a tough duel. “We have to find a way of getting some points away from home,” he said.
“The beautiful thing about football is the field is roughly the same size, no matter where you are in the world. “We have just got to worry about what’s happening on there rather than what’s happening around it.”
