MIGHTY Warriors coach, Shadreck Mlauzi, allegedly grabbed a female member of the technical team and forcefully demanded that she KISSES him in a violent attack at the national side’s hotel.
He spent a second night in custody yesterday in a case in which he is facing indecent assault charges.
Mlauzi is facing two counts of indecent assault and appeared at the Harare Magistrates Courts yesterday.
He was arrested on Tuesday.
The coach has just returned home from South Africa where he led the Mighty Warriors to a fourth place at the COSAFA Women’s Championships.
The brief allegations are that on September 26, the Mighty Warriors were camped at Pandari Lodge in Glen Lorne preparing for the COSAFA tournament.
The complainant, who is a member of the female national team technical department, asked for the training programme from Mlauzi.
The coach allegedly told her to collect it from his room.
Later that day, she went to the room to collect the programme and Mlauzi told her he would e-mail it to her.
He allegedly then went on to say “pafoni unonditiza chimbondipawo kiss,” asking the complainant to kiss him on his lips.
He allegedly then forcibly grabbed the complainant’s shoulders and pulled her towards him, in an attempt to kiss her, without her consent.
He further demanded to have his body massaged, through a WhatsApp call, and asked for sexual intimacy, but was again turned down.
In the second count, the State alleged that on October 4, Mlauzi and the complainant were in South Africa, at Garden Court Hotel, with the rest of the team members.
On handing the hotel room keys to the complainant, Mlauzi allegedly instructed her to come and massage him.
On the next day, while at the training session, the complainant told the coach that they didn’t have resistant bands for training and he told her to collect money from his room.
The complainant went on to collect the money from his room and when he handed her the US$20, he allegedly grabbed the complainant’s backside and said “chimbondipawo zvinhu izvi.”
The complainant again turned him down and went away.
The next day, Mlauzi allegedly started harassing the complainant, after the match, and that prompted her to register her complaint to the COSAFA Safeguarding Officer, who later counselled her.
Mlauzi, through his lawyer Kossam Ncube, opposed the State’s application to place him on remand, arguing that the presiding magistrate Yeukai Dzuda doesn’t have jurisdiction to preside over the matter that occurred in South Africa.
“This honourable court doesn’t have the jurisdiction to place accused on remand with respect to the second charge, which occurred in South Africa,” argued Ncube.
On behalf of the State, Lancelot Mutsokoti opposed the application arguing that the court was fully clothed with jurisdiction to preside over the matter because it’s Zimbabwe that has an interest in the finalisation of the matter.
A ruling is expected to be made today and, thereafter, a bail application will be made.
