Starting off from humble beginnings in a small one- roomed shop in the heart of Harare, Shalom has since grown from strength to strength and has opened three more branches.
Three of the four shops are conveniently located in the hub of Harare at Shop No. 4, 67 Chinhoyi Street, 6A Cameron Street and Shop No. 1 at the corner of Fourth Street and Robson Manyika Avenue, while the fourth shop was recently opened at Mac Second’s Complex in Mutare.
Shalom Agro Chemicals Sales Director Mr Justin Nherera said in spite of the challenges the company faced during the hyperinflationary period, they soldiered on and are determined to spread their wings to all parts of the country, as evidenced by the opening of the fourth branch in Mutare.
In line with the company’s vision, Shalom has gone the extra mile to create a “jig-saw” relationship with their clients through the dissemination of information to farmers.
“We carry out farm visits in order to directly identify problems that farmers might be encountering so that we help them come up with workable solutions. This helps us create a mutually beneficial relationship and a reciprocal need for each other’s services,” said Mr Nherera.
“We also conduct workshops to update and educate farmers about new products and how to use them while providing technical advice on outbreaks and the right chemicals to use as some chemicals are selective and others non-selective, hence it is always crucial to know the right chemicals to use.”
Mr Nherera pointed out that Shalom had managed to establish its name mainly through catering for small- scale farmers, who were otherwise neglected.
Today, however, the company is a supplier to both small-scale and commercial farmers.
The Sales Director paid homage to the company’s highly trained staff, who are all holders of professional certificates, hence are able to conduct business to the utmost benefit of the clients and the organisation at large.
He reiterated that Shalom is a one-stop shop that has highly competitive prices to suit any pocket.
“Ours is a business model and we are driven by the desire not only to supply high quality products at very reasonable prices,” added Mr Nherera.
In recognition of the current tobacco selling season, farmers are in for a treat as products such as barn thermometers are available on special offer, at a ridiculously low price of US$7.
