Addressing a Zanu-PF meeting in Hatcliffe last night Cde Shamu lashed out at the touts saying the party was against the practice.
“Zanu-PF says no to the charging of rank fees. No dollar should be paid. We do not want to hear that again,” he said.
Cde Shamu said the party was happy with the police intervention adding that Zanu-PF was against corruption.
He told the gathering to ensure each one of them belonged to a cell and urged party members to work hard to strengthen Zanu-PF. He urged each member to have a revolutionary spirit.
“We want the leadership style and spirit of President Mugabe to cascade to all structures,” he said.
He said before each central committee meeting members of the body should consult party members on what they should say on their behalf and after each such meeting the members should report to the lower structures on what would have transpired.
Addressing the same meeting Local Government, Rural and Urban Development Minister Ignatius Chombo said 30 Harare City councillors would be suspended to pave way for investigations into allegations of corruption.
He said the MDC-T had asked him to deal with 13 of its councillors in Harare while his Ministry has identified 17 others who have been fingered in various acts of corruption for suspension.
He said the MDC-T refused to furnish him with a report detailing the corrupt activities of its councillors for fear of being labelled as colluding with Zanu-PF. The meeting was aimed at addressing issues affecting residents and to inform them of the party’s empowerment programmes among other pertinent issues.
