Shamva mum faces murder for fatally assaulting daughter (9)

A 35-year-old mother who fatally assaulted her nine-year-old daughter for misusing cooking oil and mealie-meal playing house (mahumbwe) has appeared at the Bindura Magistrates Court facing murder.

After flogging her daughter, the mother, Sinalence Kufandirere lifted the nine-year-old Ropafadzo, who was unconscious by the legs causing her forehead to hit the ground.

Kufandirere of Maxton Farm in Shamva appeared before Bindura magistrate Mrs Nomgugu Sibanda and was remanded in custody until November 17.

Prosecuting, Mrs Getrude Mayenyoso said the incident happened on November 3.

Ropafadzo was pronounced dead upon arrival at Shamva Hospital.
