NETS ladies’ dominance in the second half of Manicaland Basketball League has come under threat from Sharks who now lead the female section with 12 points following last week’s matches.
Nets now occupy second position with 11 points, while Dangamvura Knights are in third position with seven points.
Mutare Girls’ High and AU have amassed six points and have equal chances of occupying fourth position, but D-Knights tops because of the number of games they have won.
In the males section, Mercenaries is still under threat from Titans with whom they are sharing the same number of points, though the former still remains the log leaders.
Titans have lost more games than Mercenaries over the past 17 weeks of the MBA League, thereby leaving it on second position.
D-Knights have remained on third position with 18 points, while AU and Chiefs hold the fourth and fifth positions with 17 and 16 points respectively.
Sophist has 15 points, but Hustlaz and Sixers share the equal number of points and are both battling for the sixth and seventh positions.
Hustlaz lost last weekend’s game against Mercenaries 20-0 points, while Titans won 67-48 points against Chiefs.
Mutare Basketball Association spokesperson, Taurai Dhliwayo, said Nets should pull up their socks, considering the way Sharks played last week.
“Looking at last weekend’s games, it is high time Nets pull up their socks.
“They showed their determination to qualify for the BUZ competitions where first and second position holders will be accommodated.
“Sharks’ dominance came by surprise to everyone, but nobody knows what this week holds, so we should come in our numbers and enjoy the game of basketball,” said Dhliwayo.
Teams taking part in tomorrow (Saturday)’s games are Mercenaries, Hustlaz, D-Knights (males and females), Nets, Sixers, AU, Chiefs, Titans and Sophists. Male and female games will be played at Mutare Boys’ High School and Mutare Boys’ High School basketball courts respectively.
