SHARP SHOOTER: Not too late to join Zanu-PF, Cde Chamisa

Embattled MDC-T stalwart Cde Nelson Chamisa is slowly beginning to have a crisis of conscience as he finds himself amongst bigoted party cadres and a catastrophically unintelligent leader whom he sarcastically chides with impunity these days.

Last week Chamisa took to social media to give us his unsolicited opinion of opposition politics in Zimbabwe as he made an unveiled attack on that opposition party which uses the surname of its leader as its name, describing it as “anaemic”, “weak”, “dangerous” and “unpardonable”.
Indeed there could be no clearer sign that things are not well in the opposition camp than the social media description of an “unnecessary” and “irrelevant” (to use Chamisa’s very words) opposition leadership.
Chamisa went on to declare himself as a “political scientist” whose words are sometimes “misconstrued”. However, we have always known that Chamisa has for a long time now found it very uneasy being led by Morgan Tsvangirai and is still bitter about the wounds Tsvangirai caused him during the previous MDC-T Congress when he was Nikuved by Douglas Mwonzora; who surprised everyone including himself by becoming the secretary-general of the opposition.
Be that as it may, we can never misconstrue the political scientist’s wisdom that he is finding himself stuck in a very dangerous and unnecessary MDC-T that is irrelevant because it is weak and anaemic.
That kind of description we cannot misconstrue Cde Chamisa and that kind of description is certainly not unpardonable.
It is neither puzzling nor unfathomable but as plain as a midsummer day: Zimbabwe is a de facto one-party State.
It is really telling that Chamisa has taken his identity crisis straight to social media because as he explains himself, it seems he is no longer an opposition politician but rather a political scientist who can comment on a lot of things, including against a party he belongs to.
After his latest dig, Chamisa can no longer claim that Tsvangirai or anyone in MDC-T is “seeing shadows” because clearly Chamisa is now showing that he is “courageous and indomitable” as he once said on his Twitter handle.
Of course MDC-T’s Chemical Ali — Obert Gutu — was predictably defensive; claiming that it could be an imposter’s social media account in which someone calling himself Nelson Chamisa called the opposition anaemic.
Chemical Ali’s denial exposed a number of things.
Firstly, that it is indeed Chamisa’s account and secondly that the opposition is weak and anaemic. Thirdly, the tone of Chemical Ali’s comment showed that he too was sick and tired of defending Tsvangirai and lastly that he too supports and agrees with Chamisa.
It is not uncommon for the MDC to split in to splinter groups. It has done it several times before; think Welshman Ncube, Arthur Mutambara, Job Sikhala, Tendai Biti, Elton Mangoma.
Now some are agitating for Nelson Chamisa to have his own MDC as well.
But why would Cde Chamisa form a party based on a failed political brand? Why would he prefix the name of his party with one associated with a weak and anaemic brand? Why would he drape himself in gowns of political puppetry?
Why would he do that when his ideology has often found common ground in the marketplace of Zanu-PF’s philosophy?
Remember the time when Cde Chamisa was Minister of Information and Technology during that ill-fated inclusive Government and he wrote a praise-note about President Mugabe during a Cabinet meeting?
Remember what he said?
“When greatness shall be measured, the man in the chair (President Mugabe) shall be one among a few. I am impressed by his wisdom and deftness in dealing with matters and affairs of the State. I wonder who, among the aspirants, possesses even a quarter of what he possesses. He is a great man. A man of a golden mind — agile and special in many ways. Meetings are different with him. It explains why I have not attacked him for a while. My bone is with Zanu-PF for now.”
That was in 2011. That bone with Zanu-PF was four years ago Cde Chamisa. Now you are a scholar, a political scientist and clearly you can see the writing on the wall.
You can see who was leading Zanu-PF then and who is leading Zanu PF now. As a political scientist you can also see who is a better leader, the one leading the party you purport to belong to or that “great man of a golden mind”.
Take a leap of faith Cde Chamisa because your heart belongs in Zanu-PF.
Find yourself within the great party that is led by the great leader of wisdom. Dump the party of many election miscarriages. Dump the party of coalition stillbirths. Dump the party of immobile movement, the party of undemocratic democracy, the party of stagnant change.
Zanu-PF could do with fine, young politicians like yourself who are looking for a home.
There is no future in MDC-T.
You are in your late 30s and you have your whole life ahead of you. You certainly do not need to tarnish your good standing by associating yourself any longer with the moribund Morgan Tsvangirais of this world.
Think about it Cde Chamisa. You are surrounded by enemies. Use the art of war. Use shock and awe. Strike fear in the hearts of your enemies, including those Western envoys who are trying to lure you to lead a failed opposition.
The MDC you joined in 1999 now wants to devour you. Come to the Zanu-PF that you know and can trust.
It is never too late to join Zanu-PF.
Dubulaizitha!
